Eight Miles

Quite the road trip it’s been, these eight miles…

A beautifully landscaped journey pinned together with pit stops, flat tires, challenging detours and moments of feeling turned around even completely lost…

Yet even through the gnarliest of storms, I kept going. My destination was mapped out, a place of rebuilt contentment. Of happiness…

This photographic mind of mine remembers every smile, every internal scream, every mile of this journey that began eight years ago…eight miles ago…

This was a road trip that was much needed, not an escape, but rather an ending to a beginning. These words were my Google Maps, these tunes my bottle of pills and this road my rebuilt life…

However, before this journey could begin I needed to stop allowing myself to be his verbal punching bag. I needed to lose him…

Eight miles ago I was lost and lonelier than ever, stuck in a toxic situation…

Eight miles ago I drove off and never even took a glimpse back…

You should’ve of seen me then…

You should see me now…

Take all your possibilities and take away the limits
Take your ideas and throw away all the gimmicks
I do the best with what I have
The pills are kicking in

‘Cause I’m stuck in the sunshine riptide
Dancing all alone in the morning light…” -FOB
