It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog… -Mark Twain
Most of us know this all too infamous quote by the legendary Mark Twain, it’s embedded lesson is that it’s the fight inside of a person that packs a punch, not the size of said person. I have always admired these words, not just for the importance they hold, but because I have been knocked down a few times in the ring and those words that inspired this blog have always been the reason I keep getting back up. And trust me, there were a couple of times where I just wanted to throw in the towel, in a big bad way.
I think that on a subconscious level these words remain stitched in my mind due to the fact that I was a tiny kid who felt swallowed up by the world around me. A large section of my past is filled with dark times, I’ve taken my physical licks and mental bruises. A point comes where it is time to stitch those wounds, rebuild and start to make your voice boom. Don’t snuff out the fight that beats in the center of your heart, feed it and when necessary let it loose.
Whether you think of David and Goliath or the tiny pebble creating the biggest ripples, small has one hell of a left hook. Don’t allow the mammoths of the world intimidate. My bite is just as bad as my bark.
